What recommendations do people have for 6 x 9 speakers?

Mine are bust-up and need replaced. They will be running from a "520" watt Rally amp which will get the sub woofer eventually.

I'm looking for something in the £70 - £80 range

    TIA

if sound is important go for some components on the doors. Components are also less "steal-able".

If you have some good 6*9s displayed at the back. your car will be broke into. Trust me, it happed to my sister:mad:

if you must get some 6*9s:

Pioneer TS-A6988 - go v. loud with little power ! quite bassy too
    MBQuart DKC169 - SQ !

if you can stretch... get some Boston Acoustics FX92 (amazing!)

Unfortunately my car is a Mini.
There's no room in the doors for a decent speaker.

I already have custom pods with standard Rover speakers (at the mo) sat under the dash, so I could use that for a component as it is in the same place.

the 6x9s are actually under the rear seat (but still facing out) and cannot be seen with the front seats down.

I also have standard Rover speakers on the parcel shelf.

I will try and post a couple of small pics to show you what I mean.

I cannot believe that someone is actually sad enough to steal speakers, especially ones that are secured in the vehicle. THat's just outrageous!

I am looking to add the sub to the same amp in the future, but, would like some decent sounds in the meantime.

I'll check out the speakers you suggest, thanks!

a friend of mine had a mini as his first car, he thought it would be a good idea to put 6x9s in the dash (don't ask me how), 6x9s in the back and a bass tube in the boot. It all blew up within a week!!:D

The mark one and two mini had a centre speedo, leaving loads (and I mean loads!) of room for speakers in the dash.

6 x 9s that high would have sounded pants though.

THe electrical system would never stand up to that kind of extra power without a more powerful alternator. They only had 34 bhp from a 998 cc engine!!

Hey, the first Minis had a 1000cc (1 litre) engine

They developed 34 brake horse power.

By comparison, my Cavalier is 2 litre and has 105bhp.

    We are talking 1959 here!

ytgti - got horses legs then??? :D

Glad to hear that 6 x 9's are not generally supported here. There are so much better ways of improving sound by using ohter speakers co-axial or component.

6 x 9's are really just nasty Kev speakers.

lol! If you really want to see some pics. I'll go take some!

Still looking to improve the sound in the car.

Just bought the JVC Chameleon MP3 Head unit and have now blown the Rover speakers. Gonna oik them out and get some components for the front.

I also have 10" sub in the boot. I want to upgrade that to something like a 12". Boot space is (obviously!) a little lacking, so I'll have to be careful....

    :)

I can't believe that Stu actually went back that far and BUMPED this thread!

You don't know how wrong you are! In my Alfa Spider I have Focal Polykevlar 130K speakers. They're only 5" and they are amazing, they put my B&W 602-32's in the house to shame ;)

Its not the size that matters... its the QUALITY :)

EDIT : lol, just read the whole Thread revival bit!!!
