Great news this! I was really hoping that they would be showing the home nations' matches in HD like last year, particularly following some of the lack of HD football on BBC recently. Hopefully this year they will have the audio in sync in the studio too :)

It is good news, but it makes their statements about not being able to show the FA Cup matches in HD more annoying.

If they couldn't plan the FA cup matches in time because of the uncertainty about what happened post the HD trial, then how come they managed to arrange the Rugby Union then?

Fantastic news. Was worried that the lack of football on BBC HD may have scuppered this.

At last some HD sport on the BBC !!!

First since the trial stopped isn't it?

Now get your finger out BBC and show the football in HD too.

England v Wales. Switching between SD & HD on my projector and the difference is jaw-dropping.

    No difference on mine.

England's 2nd half performance was terrible in both SD and HD.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

    England's first half was 1080p/24fps with DTS-MA 7.1.

Their second half was third generation mono VHS on a black & white portable.

What the hell was that all about?

The PQ on the footie on Sky now is so much better than the Rugby on BBC HD.

    Clearer, sharper, less artifacts etc.

Hopefully you can see the big difference now the match is on.

It is slightly softer than yesterday's game (to my eyes) but still good.

Indeed we do. And I would wager the Italy game will be HD as well.
