Six scripts were already in development for the second proposed season, unexpected but good news if they are put into production and tagged onto the end of the first season. To to be honest it's perhaps a bit late in the day to go from a script to finished product in time for a US screening in 12 weeks, not impossible but considering a half season run is the norm for many shows it's more likely they will be put aside for filming later in the year (assuming the show gets picked up).

I have been checking out the Sci-Fi Battlestar Galactica Board for a few months now and I havent seen anything on there about 6 new episodes being confirmed, I have seen talk about 6 new scripts being asked for and if the ratings go well they will be made into the first 6 episodes of Season 2 but nothing about the episodes being confirmed and certainly nothing about them being used to extend Season 1.
I think alot of people are hoping they will be used to extend Season 1 but there isnt any proof of that, not yet at least.

Well I found where you got the info from, It sounds good, but he does not quote a source, Just one sentence saying that it has been picked up for six additional episodes. I have this nagging feeling that he might be confusing the six scripts with actually episodes that are gonna be made.
I can honestly say that I have never reacted like this to a tv episode finale since they screwed up the ending of Quatum Leap!

    Good one David.
I don´t want to read too much into what Rick is saying but I don´t think we have to worry about more eps.
This is without doubt the best thing to happen to tv in years, the writing ,production, character development etc etc all top notch.
    Gripping from start to finish

    Congrats to all involved

One thing I don´t get though is why Jamie Bamber has to put on a yank accent?? maybe its for the American audience who would automatically assume he was a bad guy if he had a British accent

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Seriosly though, I dont think we will have any thing to worry about, even if the series is not picked up for a second season, there is always a posability that another mini series is made as a one off, like with farscape.
It would be interesting to see how succesfull it has been in the uk and what sky considers to be good numbers on any particular show. Surley if they think it has done well (and they put up half the money for it) then the odds are good for a second season. If it does not go well in the states after all the numbers are in, then I say make it just for us in the uk :) :D

It's not unusual for non-network shows to get half season production runs.

BSG is perhaps the best scifi of 2004/05, Enterprise (s4) and Atlantis do run it a close second but those two shows are worlds apart from BSG in "feel".
I can easily see myself buying the DVD boxset but the R2 price of £37.49 (Amazon) is a bit steep for a half season but perhaps I have been spoilt by cheapr R1 products:)

Originally Play.com had it listed as Season 1 Part 1 at £39.99 and that was a complete rip-off but now it has changed to the full Season 1 and seeing as the set is over 2 months away I wouldnt be suprised if the details of the set change yet again to include the pilot episode along with a host of extra features.

As for the price, at the moment its only the pre-order price so it could be cut in half by the time it comes to release day like alot of items are on Play, I remember pre-ordering Quantum Leap Season 1 with a 10% discount link for £21.99 and when it came to release day it had dropped to £16.99

I rate it very highly. Just watched the repeat of the final episode tonight. Can't wait for a new series!

Dunno about rewatchability, but I've been glued to my seat while watching. It's really well acted, and has a "real" feel to it.

Some people don't like it though, and think it's blasphemy against the original series. Yes, it's a remake, but this brings something new to sci-fi...

btw, I've read that the series has had viewing figures on sky of 570,00 to 730,000 or something like that. Respectable for sky. Now it just has to do well in the USA.....

Thanks for your opinions about BSG. I think the DVD is a bit pricey at the moment perhaps I will rent it out when it becomes available.

Starburst, I noticed you mentioned enterprise season 4 has been marginally behind BSG. I thought enterprise season 4 was supposed to be disappointing after the quality of season 3?

Season 4 blows s3 out of the water and season 3 was a marked improvment over seasons 1 and 2. So far they have had multi-episode storylines which in essence have almost been movie like and are merging the actual Trek history into Enterprise which is what they should have been doing from the word go.
You'll see what I mean when Enterprise comes to SKY1 in March:)

Even the US audiences are taking to it although perhaps not in the numbers that would mean a fifth season with Manny Coto once again at the controls.
