I know there are loads of sound cards which can output 5.1 but do any of them have 5.1 inputs, would like to do some 5.1 audio capture but can't find a card to do it, they all seem to be 2 channel recording, i'm looking for one with 6 phono inputs or 3 * 3.5mm inputs which can caputure 6 channel audio, anyone know of a card, PCI or USB/Firewire, don't mind, but would prefer PCI, I have looked at some Terratec cards but they don't do the ones I want...

probably a bit out of your pricerange but an MAudio 1814 will certainly do the job... alternatively I'm sure the RME9632 can handle that many inputs with an extra daughterboard..?

as the dude says, the RME 9632 combined with an AI4S will allow 6, extremely high quality analogue inputs.

the ?in refers to the number of input channels... to use the FW1814 as an example, it has

    18inputs.. 8 analogue, 8 ADAT, 1 SPDIF, 1 MIDI
    14 outputs.. 4 Analogue, 8 ADAT, 1SPDIF, 1 MIDI

The RME with the add-on card Owain mentions will probably be your best bet (quality-wise) I reckon..

most of the high-end stuff is aimed more at studio use, where 1/4" jacks rule the roost..

You'll just need some 1/4" to Phono (or whatever) cables making up..
Mark Grant makes these, you'll find him in the cabling powerbuys section..

He's made the 1/4" to RCA (phono) cables both myself and Owain are using..and probably quite a few others here too.. :)

for someone who, in the past , has been so angry about people aksing questions that are easy to find an answer to I'm surprised you would come up with that... ;)

any way, just get some custom cables, or failing that some adapters from maplin.

Out of interest, what is it you're trying to capture?
