I'd really like some advice from you good peeps :-o

I'm looking for a 6.1 Speaker set (As a package or separates). I can see
many 5.1's for sale, but nothing with an extra rear. I'd love to hear some
    recommendations. Thanks for any advice.

Budget - £700 (Could go higher if the quality is worth it..)

    The Receiver is "Yamaha DSP-AX630SE"

    Size/Colour is not an issue.

    Many thanks

Well funnily enough I'm just about to upgrade to 6.1 from 5.1, and I'm not sure about a single additional rear speaker to purchase either - current units are Ruark Prologue 1's (fronts), and Epilogue 1's (rears).

Can you even buy single speakers

Some manufacturers will sell their speakers singly but the current thinking is that a pair of centre rears is better than a single one anyway.

Hmm, thanks for your thoughts - I've chosen the following :-

Wharfedale Diamond 8.3's for the Fronts
Wharfedale Diamond 8c for the Front Centre
    Wharfedale DFS21 x4
(2 for Rear Surrounds and 1 for Rear Centre - Leaving 1 spare for upgrading to 7.1 at a later stage)
Wharfedale PowerCube 12 for the Sub.

    Any thoughts on the above?

Is that the answer then? Buy an extra pair for the additional rear channel, but save save one for for a later upgrade to 7.1?

Sorry, haven't heard the Wharfedale speakers so I can't comment.

    @stretcher

That was the general opinion of most people I've asked about this. I't seemed the logical route to take as there were so few suppliers willing to sell 1 surround speaker by itself. Still, at least i'm ready for 7.1 now! :D :D

The B&W VM1 system can be bought as individual units for about £125 each. A 5.1 set with sub retails at approx £850 but I've seen it cheeper occassionally.
