Arggo 52x24x52 £43.48 inc
That's a great price but are these super-fast CD-Writers really that much faster? For example, I'm still using a 4X CD-Writer which burns a standard 76 min audio CD in around 20mins. Surely the 52 x Writers won't do this in less than 2 mins . Or do they?
I've got a 48X writer but I've never managed to get it to write anything. Perhaps if I got a faster one it would also write nothing but a bit quicker
or about £29 + vat here www.microdirect.co.uk
Do you have a link as the ones i'm looking at are still £50 ish ?
it must of been a special as it was on the front page....
BTC 52x24x52 IDE BURN-Proof Retail £ 44.65
Just had Novatech's weekly offers land in my inbox. They are doing a 52/24/52 'burnproof' with software for £39.95 inc. VAT.
A 52x drive won't write constantly at 52x, merely peak at that speed for a few seconds when data is being written to its outside edge (the part of a disc that's spinning fastest). That means a 52x drive is barely quicker than a 48x drive, which itself isn't that much quicker than a 32x drive.
Faster drives are also noisier and run the risk of causing slightly damaged discs to 'explode'. Well, apparently.
If you'd like to find out more about how your drive performs, give CD Speed 2000 a go. It usually makes for some interesting results. Okay, not that interesting.
I got a 52x and it does a data,audio 80 min cd in a little over 2 mins
