    sorry people another stupid question,
    i thought NTSC was 480 lines.on the rear of my old 737 PIO it says 525i or 525p next to a switch.what in the name of sherbert dose that mean?is it PAL or is it NTSC?
    having said that ,my 737 only plays NTSC progressive and not PAL progressive.shame really..

    any help would as ever ...be great.

    NTSC is 525i, of which 480 lines contains picture content - so it is referred to as 480i. When progressive scan it is referred to as 480p. However, some manufacturers refer to it as 525p. eg. this epson spec . So the switch on your player is labelled for NTSC source.

    PAL is 625i with 576 lines of picture content, so it is referred to as 576i - and 576p when progressive. (The missing 49 lines have been subverted by broadcasters to carry teletext, PDC and widescreen signalling as well as sync information.)
