50hz or 100hz

    Ok folks whats the score with these. On one hand I have people telling me to avoid them because they result in a crap picture and on the other people are telling me 100 hz TVs have better screens.

    As all the top end TVs are 100hz then surely 100Hz is the best and indeed the way to go.

    Still Confused though.

    In almost every respect 100hz is better - you get a much more stable picture, more 'depth' to the colour and a more film-like quality. However a lot of the high-end TV manufacturers combine 100 hz with all sorts of digital processing, and with the possible exception of Philips Pixel Plus, I'd avoid this extra processing like the plague - it rarely improves the picture in anyway though it might trick you into seeing more contrast, or smoother motion, etc.

    So in a word, go for 100hz but switch all the other digital processing off.
