50" plasma with no scaler

Active Member

I am finally going to take the plunge and treat myself to a plasma for Christmas (shhhhhh don't tell the Mrs!).

If I was to go for a 50" screen for watching movies/Sky + (HD footie when it arrives!) and playing video games but no scaler (budget will only stretch to the 50" on its own) what would you recommend.

I am planning to go and see the PHD8 and 506XDE side by side somewhere with decent sources hooked up.

Any recommendations on decent suppliers and prices would also be most welcome.

Kepp up the good work. I'm trying not get too confused with all the advice that's on here!

Just got my 506XDE delivered on Wednesday, Amazing screen, really happy with it, I had to decide between the Panny and Pioneer and I found the picture far more vibrant on the Pioneer.

I bought it in the end from Peter Tyson, Excellent price with next day delivery, Speak to a guy called Steve, He's really helpful.

Hope this helps,

I would recommend you go for a cheaper screen, and get a scaler.....
And what decent 50" screen is cheaper than a PHD8/506?

The Fuji P50XHA40US sans-scaler is a great screen, but for only a bit more money you can get a PHD8+Scaler, and that is a cracking combination.
