Hey guys,

Im after a budget 50" plasma

been looking at the LG pg3000 for £599

http://www.richersounds.com/product/plasma-tv/lg/50pg3000/lg-50pg30starstar

or this for £699

LG 50PQ30STARSTAR at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.

finally is this really worth the extra money ?

LG 50PS3000 - 50 Inch HD Ready TVs - Electrical Experience >

the tv will be mainly used for watching normal sky tv and the occasional dvd.

will i notice better picture quality on sky between the cheapest and the dearest tv on here ?

I would say to get the 50PQ3000, but I would say get the PQ6000 unless you're going to be connecting an external sound system. You will only benefit from 1080p if you watch 1080p native sources (blu-ray and PC inputs) and sit under around 10ft away, in fact to get the full benefit you need to sit less than 7 or 8 feet away. Opinions will vary but a 1080p TV will generally produce a worse SD picture (which your sources are) than the HD ready equivalent, and the PQ3000 is identicle to the PS3000 apart from the 1080p resolution on the PS3000.

The PG3000 is last years model, although a decent TV the PQ3000 is a lot better, particularly in black levels. It's well worth the extra

thanks for the reply, just to add it will be connected to home cinema system so sound not a problem

SD can improve on a 1080p screen if the processing and technology behind the TV is there, but an identicle version of a 720p TV, but with a 1080p resolution (which is what the PS3000 is to the PQ3000), will produce a worse SD picture due to greater scaling which introduces more artefacts etc...there is potential for better, but I am yet to see better
