50" LG plasma went pop then nothing

Standard Member
Hi everyone.

We were given a 50" HD LG plasma and it was working perfectly but there was a loud popping sound and now we don't get any picture.

A few LED's come on etc but the screen stays completely black.

I know that the majority of people will say get a new TV but is there any chance that it could be something that would be cheaper to replace? Such as the power board etc?

You might be able to get the power supply repaired at component level if you can find a decent independent engineer. Chances are it will be faulty (Blown) Capacitors so should not be to expensive as long as no other damage has been caused to the board. Alternatively a new Power supply Here :)
