I have PowerDVD XP (not Deluxe), I intend to buy a separate A/V receiver (Sony STRDB1080).

With PowerDVD can I simply connect my motherboards AC97 SPDIF out to the amp's in and get full 5.1 sound in movies? I don't want PowerDVD to do any audio decoding, that's what the amp is for, I just want to be sure the full digital audio stream will be passed on to the amp.

Sorry for my second newbie question in two days :)

Find out if the digital out on the mobo can output DD & DTS. Some don't.

I knew DVD players can come without DTS out, but I didn't realise mobo's did this too!

Are there any particular mobo's people are going for at the moment?

    Thanks,
