Hi, im going to purchase the pioneer 565a dvd player and i'll need some surround speakers to go with it.

The player has inbuilt decoders, does this mean that i don't need an amp? Im confused.

Anyway, i'll at least be needing 5.1 speakers and an amp if necessary.

Please guide me in the direction of some speakers that would be good for rock music and that are not too expensive (£100?).

Thanks in advance (and sorry for so many threads with questions). :zonked:

I think where the DVD has inbuilt decoders it means you still need an amp. It is for connection to an older amp which has 5.1 analog connections but does not have DD or DTS decoding.

Also the Hifistore have a good range of speaker packages.

    what the hell!!! LOL

the amps are like £200 and the speakers at least £100.

Isn't there a decent amp and set of speakers for £100?

Are you after both an amp and a 5 speakers and subwoofer for under £100??

I would try Richer Sounds in that case. You could probably get a amp for about £60 and maybe speaker package for £60. Can't seen you getting both for £100 though. Unless someone can correct me on that??

£100's doesn't get you much in the av world I'm afraid. :(

For that kind of budget you'd be looking at an all in one package that has satellite speakers and a subwoofer that has the amp and decoder in. The 565 is a very good dvd player for the money and spending £100 on an amp and speaker package won't do it justice imo. I'd save a little longer and go the seperates route and buy in bits as funds become available.

budget amps start at around £100-£150 like this one:-

budget speakers range from around £50 to £500 like these:-

    and

    and

here's an example of an all in one for <£100 (more suited to a pc than home cinema):-
