I was looking at the Tannoy FX 5.1 package aswell, I went to the store and had a look at them, they seem to be well made and the sub is quite substantial and the package as a whole got good reviews when it was launched.

However the kit is over 4 years old now and has been superceded by the EFX 5.1 which is £249 at Richer sounds, this setup has a better centre and a better sub, I know that this is £100 over your budget but if you buy from Superfi at £199 then it is only £50 over and the carriage is free in the UK.

I went ahead and got the EFX 5.1 system today, RS was able to better the Superfi deal.

10 out 0f 10 for Richer Sounds

a further £10, I got them set up and the difference between these and my previous setup are like night and day, the control in the sound is so much better. :)

for reference my previous setup was Kenwood satellites and a Kenwood passive sub, if your setup was anything like mine I am sure that either of the Tannoy's will please.

Definitely the tannoys, better sub, and 2 way sats. The sony is a 6.1 system, which may not be necessary in your setup. The sony is a good bit of kit, but do remember that the tannoy was originally an award winner at £480 back in the olden days.

However, not all stands are suited to them, as the mounting thread is in the base of the sats, as opposded to the rear of the speaker. Worth tracking down the dedicated stands for them.
