You need to enable digital output. On my SB card, the option is in Control panel/sounds/volume/advanced/advanced.

right i found out what my problem is but not solved it yet..

i built this pc myself it has a gigabyte GA7VT6001394 mobo with 5.1 sound it has 3 small audio out connections

i later added the sbA2 card and i thought i was connecting the coaxial to that , but now i have looked closer that has 5 plug in points and digital out on that is a single jack plug

below that i have another panel with optical out coaxial out mic and headphones(cant remember fitting this ) and thats what i connected to ....this has a push in connector going to my mobo so is it just a case of taking it of the mobo and fitting it to the SBa2 card to get and optical or coaxial connection

you think i would be able to remeber what i built (i cant it must be my age

    hope all this makes sense

i have now discovered that the coaxial/optical out has a small 3 pin block connector on the back but there is no connection like this on my sound card

on the sound card i have
cdspdif, cd in , sb1394, or tad

i think the easy answer would be to get a convertor from jack plug digital out to either coaxial or optical to my av amp is such a thing available

    thanks for any help

I had the same problem, tried making a lead myself with 3.5mm jackplug digital out(audigy2) to coaxial(amp), couldn't get it working.

Pulled out the audigy2 card out my machine and am now using ALC850 built into my motherboard.

Hi,i have a SB Audigy 2 NX external SC connected to my Yammy AV reciever via a coax cable & get DD & DTS pass-through OK via digital SPDIF.SC does have a SPDIF Out RCA type connector on back thou ie not a mono or stereo jack type socket,ca'nt see why digital signal would be via those?,unless you can plug a RCA/Coax into it direct? or the output his just for Creative Digital Speaker System?
Only other thing i can think of you need to enable pass-through on SW DVD Player,SC & set AV reciever or Amp to decode digital signal?

    Cheers BOB
