I'm looking at a budget of £500 for a 5.1 speaker pack. Other than the following, what else can be had for the money?

    MS Premier Plus
    Kef Eggs Mk 1
    Sib & Cub Mk 1

Any other suggestions? Must be satellites or floorstanders with a small footprint and WAF friendly. ie Silver

The other half just can't come to terms with my MS908's

In an ideal world, I'd snap up speakers from the MA Radius range but they're out of my reach.

If you don't mind more conventional looking speakers (and slightly larger than your average satellites) then Mission is undoubtedly worth a look. My neighbour got a massively discounted set which is obviously a forerunner to the current M30s. It sounds excellent. Another very choosy friend with a taste for high-end hi fi has just bought the M30s and is very happy indeed with the sound. The M30s are well within your budget.
PS I'm an egg owner and can vouch for the Mk Is if you can get a set for under £500.

    Hi All

What about Mission M7s package ?

I like the look of these, but not heard them, yet.

    Are they worth auditioning ?

Forget them. Got a demo of the R180, R90 and R360 yesterday and wasn't impressed at all. A case of paying for speakers that look good and that's about it. Don't know if the R270 would be any better.

Nothing much to touch the Mission's at the price, even look second hand for a bargain like the 78 package.

Canton CD1s from germany for EUR299 - heard them on tottenham court road and they're a capable set (not ideal listening conditions I know!). Larger canton floorstanders are slim and silver for a proper upgrade (for sneaky 7.1 later  ).

    Ordering from germany thread:

Alternatively I've just bought MS906s and am very happy with them (and a MS309!)

I have managed to source the Mission m7s new for £200 which I collect on Saturday (hopefully) along with the stands for £10 per pair.

I'll let you know how it works out, though to be honest I was looking for style over substance, and couldn't quite talk myself into getting the best of both worlds and getting some gallo's or blueroom's.

    They are fine

although the sub only seems to be active when there is more than a low amount of sound

but for £200 for the set it's bargainous

Ill take some piccies of the install in a month or so after i move house

    :)
