I started this months a go but only finished it recently. Unfortunately no projector but I did manage to wangle a 55E6 in there. Placement of speakers etc are not perfect but as with most people I had limitations of where everything went.

Pre-ordered a new AV receiver to replace the existing Denon AVRX4100 with a Denon AVRX4400 so almost complete.

Equipment:

LG 55E6
NUC i5 (With Kodi front end)
Logitech Harmony Ultimate

Monitor Audio:

Silver 8
Silver Centre
Silver FX
Silver W12 Sub

Monitor Audio 265 IDC Ceiling Speakers (For Atmos)

All Audioquest Cables and some Philips Hue strips and bulbs.

Got a custom made rack from www.Hi-FiRacks.co.uk

Thanks mate,

I was really hesitant to have Atmos tbh with the knowing the positioning maybe an issue. But it works really well and I have no issues with separation. I chose the IDC range as its a true 3 way speaker with a lot of control over the direction of the audio.

Overall although not perfect It sounds excellent.

Looks great what's your viewing distance? Did you think of putting the surrounds behind you or do they need to on the sides?

Tbh not exact but a few meters.

I tried the speakers behind but I had a couple of reasons not to put them there.

First I have a 4 year old and didnt want him swinging on them, secondly with the audio behind I found it was too close and I could not hear the Atmos speakers too well.

Either way, I prefered them where they are...

Cheers mate interesting about not been able to hear the Atmos, I'm trying to gauge a setup for a new room and without obviously putting speakers in different places and then moving it's good to see how others have done it. I was looking at getting the Bronze version for mine which I assumed would be similar

I really like what you've done as it's definitely given me food for thought on what I'd like to do with my set up. Many thanks.

Love this and very similar in look to my lounge what with the oak furniture, floor etc. Can I ask where the wallpaper is from (assuming its wallpaper) behind the TV?

Also, I've been thinking of getting an Echo Dot for a while. How do you find it and for what do you use it for (trying to justify getting one! ;) ).

Thanks,

Its not wallpaper behind the TV it is split face tile (stone) You can get it from several places but its like this

Split Face Mosaic Tiles | Walls & Floors | Topps Tiles.

The Echo dot I use for a few things as I have a few 4 of them around the house. Lighting (Philips Hue), Heating (HIVE) and also to a lesser extent until I get time to sort it out the Harmony Ultimate remote. I know they are bringing out the Sonos integration shortly which I will use as I have a lot of Sonos around my home.

Thanks.

Thanks!

I did wonder about the wall but couldn't quite tell. I'll certainly give that a look as I have a chimney breast which is wallpapered at the moment but that kind of thing would look good also.

That's the kind of thing I'd be looking at too. Unfortunately my lounge lights can't take the Hue bulbs but I've been thinking of some desk lamps or light strips instead. I have a Harmony Ultimate too which is a God send but I do like the idea of being able to control my Sonos stuff with it as I too have a Connect in the lounge, Play:5 in the kitchen and some Play:1's upstairs.

Thanks for the info!

Looks great!
Interesting that you have the rear speakers up high (as I do) to keep out of the reach of a 4-year old! I have 3 year old twins. You have a lovely hifi rack (envious!) with the equipment exposed. I've just moved my equipment from racks into a cabinet with a door as they would be pushing all the buttons every time they go into the lounge!

One of the twins broke his leg yesterday falling off a sofa, poor little man.

Must get my setup posted here soon.

My little lad has calmed down a bit now and so far hasn't touched anything... hopefully it will stay that way...

Hope your kid is alright

Thanks CrossyX, he's doing remarkably well. Luckily it's winter here so he isn't missing out on being outside too much. Hopefully he will be a bit more mobile with a new cast next week.

Nice warm colors. the vision and audio will be for you your reality of home entairnetment
Please let me react about the hight of toyr display. Can you move it a little lower level? It would enhance center speaker and your head digree level horizontial

Thanks.

The height looks deceptive but when Im sat down the bottom of the TV is eye level any lower and it would not of looked right in the room as the ceiling is relatively high. The bracket is actually a cantilever and tilting so if I require it I can angle it s but I do not intend to do that.

The centre speaker originally was supposed to go slightly higher but when I took the plaster off there was a lintel directly where I wanted the speaker to be recessed which would have meant I would have had to take apart the chimney breast which for a few inches higher would of not been cost effective as that would have meant lintel out, brickwork removed and replaced builders cost etc.

Thanks for the input.

Had an email today regarding my new Av Receiver (AVRX-4400) Should be here 16-29 Sept. Looking forward to getting that along with the new Xbox One X.
