    Evening all.

Who would you trust mail order wise to put me a new battery in without wiping my phone?

    Anyone on here do it?

Anyway of telling what capacity is left on the original battery?

    Sorry for all the Q's!

    Cheers,

    Simon

Think Apple charge £55 if you take it in store. Only ones I would trust tbh.

They say data gets wiped :( Our broadband is so slow a backup would take a week. Ditto our home PC.

It's very easy. I've done many part replacements on 4. Undo the two tiny torx screw in the bottom, order a screwdriver off eBay. Cheap. Slide the back up and lift off. Remove the one(?) screw holdin battery connection in place and lift tab off. Pull clear plastic that says something about battery it's stuck with glue so a lot of pulling. Out new one in. And reverse steps.

Have you tries a battery monitoring app and have you tried cycling it?

Not just the issue of doing it yourself but the standard of the replacement part. Have it done by Apple and you get 90 days warranty plus i dont think they replace the battery but actually give you a refurbished phone. Not sure on that last bit though.

Not sure I understand. Why can't you back to your PC?

I'd got for Apple as well. I got a third party to replace my case and now wireless doesn't work

Our home PC is ancient. Too slow, don't have 32gb free.

It's a very easy process to change a battery, lots of videos on YouTube showing how. A genuine battery and tools should cost you no more than £15-20.

But I would cycle the battery first to be sure.

Simply go to your Local Repair Shop, and tell him the problem followed by what do you expect from him, he would surely take backup of your entire phone and would return it to you just like it was before (Of course with a new battery). In my opinion, don't go for the mail order one's as if they do any kind of blunder than you would need to keep on writing to them about the issues you are having with new battery or with your data, and this thing will take a good number of weeks to get fixed.
