What will give the better picture quality?

I am hopefully buying a 9986 soon and I realise they have no component input.

The signal would be through the official microsoft Scart if I left the TV to it's own devices.

It is very important to me that my Xbox picture quality is as good as possible.

Supposedly, a modded Xbox (mine is) produces an excellent picture when rigged up through the official NTSC microsoft component cable and games are run at 480p or higher.

I will be mostly playing PES4 which is 480p only.

My question is therefore, does NTSC 480p through component look better than normal PAL with the 9986's internals doing the de-interlacing?

Would hate to have to leave the 9986 as it doesn't have component inputs.

Hopefully I have made myself clear!

    Thanks a lot.

The progressive scan image quality from the Xbox is way better than the RGB signal via scart. If you can use it, you really should!

Don't the extra PAL lines make up for this though?

Also, won't the TV make the picture progressive anway so effectively you will get 576p through Scart?

    Am I missing something here?

I wonder whether there will be HDMI or DVI cables for Xbox 2?
