I was hoping to buy the Infocus 4805, but I've now been told by the shop that this would give me a screen size of 9 feet wide by 6 feet high, which is to big (not to big for me, but is for her!), so I need to find another pj that will give me a picture no larger than 7 feet across (should be able to push for 7.5) and no higher than 6 feet. Any ideas? for under £1600.

Room size 18.1 long by 12 wide
pj would sit on back wall, so it would sit at just under 18 feet point.

will be used for dvd, sky and xbox

thanks in advance for any help :smashin:

Good luck trying to find one. You need a projector with a really long throw lense but most home cinema PJ's come with short or medium throw lenses.

You can buy long throw lenses for some home cinema projectors but there not exactly cheap.

Have you though of slinging it from your ceiling or are you trying to keep it wife friendly (I for one know the score there).

Panasonic AE700 has a large enough zoom to give a 7" image from 18" away.

Since you mention the Infocus 4805 you could consider the Infocus 5700 I am sure this projector will give you the screen size you want with a throw of 18 feet.

I appreciate that this projector is over the £1600 you stipulated however I have seen the 5700 advertised with a free screen for around £600 over your budget.

If you don't already own a screen this may make the 5700 a little more affordable.

Nobody would want to watch a seven inch image! :D

Here's a link to Projector Central - foghorn was right :)

I was going to mention the Mitsubishi HC900, but after checking it looks like it wouldn't be suitable :(

I had looked into the ceiling option, but not wife friendly, plus alot of extra cost involved, again not wife friendly.

Sigismund, thanks for the Projector Central link, that will help

Thanks again all, I'll look into the 5700 + screen deals, if you see any let me know.

I keep hearing that the 4805 throw meant it was difficult to obtain a large image from a relatively close distance. Plus you can always adjust the zoom to reduce the size of the image and lastly, how about moving the pj close to the screen.
There are many ways to adjust the size of the image or is the problem that you HAVE to have the pj situated in a specific position which is a considerable distance from the screen ?

sorry, I should have read the post a little better. I see that you have to have the pj 18 foot from the screen. This does raise problems with most projectors which aim to produce the largest image possible from a given distance.

I have no idea whether these guys are reputable or not, but they are established bricks and mortar.

The 5700 deal includes a 69" Luma screen and a 10m component lead, but they do offer upgrades to larger screen sizes. I'm guessing at 18' that 92" or larger is the sort of size you are thinking of - my room is the same length.

Yep. The Panny 700 has a 2 x zoom so it fits the criteria.
