Hi - Got my 436xde on order.

Been reading many threads in the video processor / scaler etc forum.

TBH - Lost in the jargon and technical side of things.

Have any of you lucky people, whom have already got their 436/506xde plasmas got an external video processor / scaler hooked up to the tv?

If yes - what system have you got and is there a marked improvement in the pic quality?

Cheers in advance for any input

    Hi Darron

I have a 505XDE connected to a Crystalio scaler and the difference in picture quality is significant. Highly recommended...... BUT.........

If you are serious about the scaler, then cancel the order for the XDE and order a non-TV panel (e.g. Pioneer MXE1).

I brought the XDE first and then added the rest of the kit later, but if I could go back in time I would buy the MXE1 (more flexibility with an external scaler).

Don't get me wrong, the XDE's a great TV and superb with the Crystalio (720p) but with an MXE1 you can go that little bit extra and use the native resolution (768p).

    Hi Doc,

    Thanks for that info.

Im not sure I can cancel the order now, as Ive paid for it. Plus also I had to keep the missis happy with an easy to use tv.

Im now in a situation a bit like you, where I will have to try and work around what Ive got.

    Cheers,
    Darron
