    Hi,

Last week I received my Pio 434 plasma screen and the 868 DVD player.

Today I received the HDMI cable.

I have never seen such detail and depth in a DVD picture, ever!
The images are extremely smooth, with a 3D like appearance. The blacks are even better and there's no noise at all in the picture.

For all you people waiting for the player and the cable: Look forward to it! It is a fantastic combination!

And I'll say it again....how did you manage to get an HDMI cable?
Earliest delivery to any suppliers in the UK is end of December and by all accounts, Pioneer themselves only have about 2 of them.
    Come on, spill the beans...

I'm surprised your dealer was able to spare an HDMI cable.

    Hi

    I don't know the 668!

I think the 868 is a fantastic player. I used a component cable for a week and the picture was very good. One of the better players I've seen with component, even though not comparable to the HDMI.

I think we can say bye bye to analogue video transmissions.
Component is OUT, HDMI(DVI) is IN!!!

The biggst difference is: black levels, colors, depth, details and the dynamics.
Everything is better. I will never go back to component again!

    Claus,

Ignore the comment on the 668 - kind of an "in joke" if you've been following the other thread...

So it sounds like HDMI lives up to all the hype then and even without it, the 868 gives an acceptable PQ when using component.
    Great.
Looks like I made the right choice then :)

Now if you watch all your movies over the next few days or so, you can lend me your cable...;) :D

I must say I'm not a big fan of Reloaded, but....
The picture on the region 1 version is excellent!

So trust my judgement on this one:)
