So I'm planning to go for the Samsung UE43KS7500 but due to age and stock being limited I may be forced into picking one up at the end of the week but it may no longer be in stock and I hate to rush to purchase something like this.

Can anyone suggest any comparable or better options for this size panel? My primary usage will be gaming, web browsing and tv series/movie watching.

Thanks!

Even the KS7500's fairly basic local dimming was very unusual at 43", most manufacturers don't offer it at all. The only one I can think of that might qualify is the LG UJ750 but the performance in that area was appalling last year and judging by reviews of surrounding models it doesn't sound as if they've improved it this year.

Going up to 49" gets you more and better choices so I'd give that some consideration.

The thing is I will be sitting fairly close to it as it will be replacing my current 27" monitor. So while I agree 49" class has more options it would be too big. I know Sony and Panasonic are the only other 2 brands to offer 40"-43" panels but how do the Panasonic TX-40EX700B / Sony KD-43XD8305 compare to the KS7500?

Personally I think you'd be better of sticking with a monitor unless it's the size of the display your after, anything larger than 32" on PC tends to get very expensive.

Also if your intent is to make use of TV HDR that is a mess on PC at the moment. AMD's Freesync 2 and Nvidia G-sync displays do their own form of PC monitor HDR but it is tied to specific games.

Everyone offers TVs using 40" or 43" panels. LG, Philips, Hisense, Vestel etc.

The EX700 and XD83 are comparable to the KU6400. Wide colour gamut but no increase in on screen brightness range.

If money's no object then there are some 27" 16:9 and 35" 21:9 HDR monitors coming out with 384 or 512 dimming zones that are expected over the next few months. I'd expect them to be £1k+ though and wouldn't be surprised if they were £1500-2000, at least initially.

Thanks for the responses guys; Yeah, I've seen the new HDR monitors that will be available soon but the price for just 27" of screen estate regardless of backlight tech is insane. Plus 4K on a 27" monitor seems very silly to me, you need at least 40" to tell the difference or your eyeballs will have to be literally touching the screen, lol. The problem is cost, £1500-£2000 is crazy, at that price you could get a much better IQ with a high end TV but as you mentioned only in 49" upwards.

The reason I am looking at the 40-43" HDR tv range is mainly due to cost. There are no monitors available or on the horizon that is 32", 4K, HDR and can output higher than 350nits at a decent price. I've also given up on gsync/freesync due to lack of options and cost premium.
The LG 32UD99 (32",4k, hdr, 550nits peak) comes to mind but that's £1,100, I can potentially get the Samsung UE43KS7500 for between £700-£750.

Then there is the recently announced Samsung LC32HG70, which is 32" 2K, 144hz, HDR, 600nits (apparently). But its 2K at 32", I currently have a 2K 27" so I feel I would notice the reduced DPI. Very annoying.
