I think my plasma hunt has come down to the two screens
the Panny PX60 which as everyone knows is 899 from Currys etc
OR
The Hitachi 42PD9700 which is the 1080i AliS panel at about £1000
Main use will be sky hd, xbox 360 and some hd stuff from a pc, tiny bit of sd.

I've heared good things about the hitachi but also some bad things about Alis?

Anyone know what their like for screen burn etc?

Thanks

Huw

I've had a 32PD3000 ALIS for 4 years. It's been totally reliable and I've had no problems at all with screen burn (even before the Sky option to timeout the DOGs).

I have the 42PD8700 which has the AliS, and am very happy with it, I looked at the 9700, but apart from the swivel stand and removable speakers, I could not notice any Difference in picture quality. The 9700 has the Picture Master Technology, but I couldn't tell the difference so went for the 8700 and saved £300.

I hooked my my laptop to the PX60 at a friends house, and the picture quality was not as good as when the Laptop was hooked up to a Hitachi 7500.

I don't think I've seen a post of screen burn on ALiS panels here.
I'm happy with my 9700, and was in the same boat as you few months ago.

...and follow my trail of links that talk about the same topic! lol

Ooopps, dunno why I didn't find that using the search . How much worse are the blacks on the 9700 compared to the panny? If it was worth it i'd consider the Pioneer 427, but i cant see it being some 500 quid better than the panny/hitachi?
