    Man, I'm really twitching now.

Do any of the retailers on here have a date for the release of Hitachi's new panel? Is it still due this month?

I'm basically holding off buying a 42PD5200 until this beast comes out...then either buy the 7200 (if the price is right) or a 5200 (if the price drop is right).

My lounge is 80% complete now, really it needs the panel to finish it off :smashin:

    CHOP CHOP HITACHI!

Sorry to get you all a fluster I said PV50 if you look again.
My reasoning is that the SD Panny pv50 was so much better than anything I've seen ( see my review) so far that Hitachi will have to come in a fair bit cheaper, unless the 7200 can compete with it picture wise and we can only hope that it does.

its still got a res of 1024x1024 does that make it a ALIS panel and is it really HD ready, I thought they had to be 1280x720 at leats to be HD Ready or scaling would happen.

"Hitachi-shop.co.uk has no affiliation with Hitachi UK Ltd and is solely a creation of Nexnix Ltd."

    Jeez, that's pretty misleading :(

    Hi

I am unsure whether the ALIS panels can be labelled as HD ready as on one side we know that only 512 llines can be lit in a instant but the panel does have 1024 unique addressable lines.

As has been previously said, the issues here is 720p50 support.

As a side note, I wonder if there will be an option to buy this TV cheaper if you do not want the motorised stand as its to be wall mounted. Does anyone know if Hitachi have an products in the offering soon that willl supports a media box which will support HD. The AV3000E doesnt support HD and the HD panels for Hitachi will need one if they are going to try and sell themselves as wall mountable.

This is in the Hitachi 7200 brochure

Hitachi’s PICTURE MASTER Technology, like all the best ideas, is easily
explained. But behind the elegant simplicity of our flat panel TVs, there’s a lot
    going on.
Full Digital Signal Processing and Scaling ensures that the signal remains pure
and clean, while High Quality Digital Image Pixel Processing Technology
analyses every pixel in each image signal. Two hi-tech chips work together to
    handle the process.
Firstly, the new 1024 Progressive Processing system up-scales incoming
signals, adding extra pixels to create unparalleled sharpness and detail to our
HDTV ready panels. Then the Super Dynamic Contrast function analyses
pictures to enhance picture quality in dark scenes and provide even richer
    blacks.
In addition, Hitachi Plasma TVs boast 68.6 billion colours thanks to the 12-bit
Advanced Digital Colour Management which reproduces 4093 colour
graduations. Finally, there’s the High Quality Video Motion processing system,
with a High Speed Calculation process which controls every on-screen pixel
    to avoid any blurring.
Hitachi’s unique technology gives our 7000 Series state-of-the-art picture
    quality.

Starting in Europe in 2006, HDTV will offer the best TV picture quality ever
seen. At present, most people use either an analogue signal or a standard
definition digital signal (SDTV) to receive broadcast television. HDTV will be a
step beyond even the great improvement of digital SDTV.
HDTV uses many more pixels than present services offer, creating the
strongest and most detailed TV image you can have. It’s far sharper than a
    DVD is at present.
The majority of Plasma Televisions sold today are not HDTV-ready. But thanks
to Plasma and LCD technology from Hitachi, you can now future-proof your
purchase by choosing a TV that is fully compatible with the new standard. Only
HDTV-ready panels such as ours will be capable of displaying high-definition
    digital sources.
Thanks to our revolutionary flat screen technology, Hitachi flat panel displays
are the ideal choice if you’re thinking of investing in a TV today. You need a
display that’s ready to cope with the extra demands that HDTV puts on your
    equipment – and ours are.

How many colours are they and how many can the eye see?

    This site http://www.colormatters.com/optics.htm
says The human eye can see 7,000,000 colors others say four and all the mixes in between.

The reason i ask is the new Hitachi 7200 plasma info says

In addition, Hitachi Plasma TVs boast 68.6 billion colours thanks to the 12-bit
Advanced Digital Colour Management which reproduces 4093 colour
    graduations

68.6 BILLION!!! no wonder i have trouble picking paint in my local DIY store
