Now that the season has kicked off...

Does anyone have a view as to how the Hitachi handles the football on sky?

Did anyone watch it yesterday - I would love to know how this set handles the footie - any problems with speed etc

Also, what scarts should I get - the guy in RS was suggesting some scarts @ £60.00 each - is that really nescessary? Argos are doing a PURE AV OFC Quad shielded gold plated @ £17.99 - would this be sufficient (Cat No. 534/4431)

Thanks folks - would love to go and buy the Hitachi today...

I watched match of the day yesterday and thought it looked very good ,no probs at all ,the grass looked fine ,and there was no sign of motion blur .

Haven't tested sky as yet seeing as both saturday games were rip off pay per view ,i'll watch one of the games today and let you know .

Thanks nelios - its being bought for football and movies, and I have not seen a bad or even picky review of this set - if it can handle the footie...oh baby...

    I agree with Neilos.
I watched Man u the other night and it looked fine.
I haven't watched Sky footy either yet, but would guess it'll be better :smashin:

I think the Argos scarts will be perfect, I have similar.
I guess the more expensive ones will be better, but only about 5% and probably not even noticable.
I would imagine there might be others who disagree though.

    Looked up a review 5/5!

The thor lead as linked by bazlion is a great scart, PQ is as good as a scart for about £50+

I am sure I read on one of the long Hitachi threads that the Thor is a good cable but you may struggle to get three of them into the set due to the size and shape of the connector. Not the pinned piece but the metal housing.

    My tuppence worth regarding leads.

I bought a QED SCART lead to connect SKY+ into the Hitachi panel (previously had a decent quality £15-20 lead) and the difference was noticeable.

The guy at the shop was so confident it would be better he happily offered me the option of returning it (along with the QED component lead I bought at the same time to go Denon 500SD --> Plasma) if I didn't notice the improvement.

Iirc the SCART lead was £40 but well worth it, can't comment on the Thor as I've never used one. AM at work at the moment but if anyone is interested I'll dig up the exact model (is an award winning lead) and post here.
