    Hi,

Could someone check over this setup for me please?

    £1100 - 42" Panasonic TH42PWD7S (with 3 year guarentee) - Richer Sounds
    £140 - Pioneer VSXC301S AMP - Richer Sounds
£120 - RGB to Plasma VGA Converter - JS
    £125 - Stand - AVSales

    Total: £1485

RGB scart from the Amp straight into the RGB->Plasma convertor, then that into the plasma using a VGA cable.

That Pioneer amp is cracking, 4 scart sockets for starters. Xbox/GC/PS2/CableTV/Ipod straight into the amp. Sony 5.1 speakers that I already own providing sound from the amp.

Or should I be getting BNC component instead/as well to support prog scan?

    Thanks!

Have a look at the offer at the top of the plasma section, I think you can pay a little more and have a stand, but you get a component board too.

Yes, the forum favourite, the PWD7 is for sale at £1150, to include:- screen, BNC component board, flat wall mount, 3 yr warranty and delivered to your doorstep.

Wow that is a cracking deal... will drop that guy an email.

However I still dont see the advantage of having a component board rather VGA -> RGB Scart -> Amp? (however I am a complete n00b)

The colour saturation from sky going into the panny screens is too strong and you cant drop the saturation with the vga input, so instead of the JS vga transcoder go for the JS component transcoder instead.

I would also look for an amp with component switching too, you can then have one component cable going from amp to plasma and use teh amp for switching.
Some of the Denon amps would be better than the one you have listed and only be a few quid more.

remember with the triple board you can only use two inputs at once, i.e. component and choose s-video or compostite.
