I have a panny 50PHD8, but a friend of mine has a £1000 budget and wants a 42" HD plasma.

whats the best for the money, any and all suggestions will be helpful.

sound system is already in place, and TV is watched using a freeview box already.

erm 42PHD8 is £1360 best screen under £2k under £1k nothing HD ready comes close ther eis the PWD8 which is HD compatible and around £950 but the extra is well worth it for the PHD8 other option is use some discount codes and get a 37PX60 Panny which is HD ready for £1k http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=376074&page=2

I've got £2000 and I want a Bugatti Veyron

Oh well. I guess with the extra 50 quid I can get a HD video processor with motion compensated deinterlacing for 1080i.

it is a good point though, and so many people are expecting a quality screen for 1k from tescos just because it says HD ready on it
