40v4000 vs 40A656 at same price

I have never changed my decisions on getting an LCD model so many times. Mainly for watching SD, movies and a bit of gaming(maybe)with a viewing distance of 3.3 meters.

Basically the choice is hard for me as both 40 inch models can be had from different location for €1000. There are some marking difference in their configuration like 100Hz, different dynamic ratios and connections but ..

At the end of the day, which one is the better choice?

Welcome to the high cost living/high tax area of nordic region. We pay the most for almost all things here.

Small problem here. We went out shopping when we went to onoff where we checked out screens of various sizes. Missus does not approve of a 40". She says its too thick and too big for the bedroom. I have to consider probably a 32" or max a 37". Any suggestions?

37A656 - 100Hz, 1080p

Disadvantages
37V4500 - 720p
37A656 - poorer SD, judder at 24p, no SD tuner, numerous bugs?, TBE

The A656/ A686 for your region has a built in HD cable/ air tuner. I expect this is why your prices are more expensive than ours, it's a seperate model for Nothern Europe. Don't buy from Pixmania as they normally ship the French models.

The A686 shouldn't have any of the bugs the A656 originally had.

You want the LE37A696M1W (Your A686 with A HD Tuner) LE37A676A1W (Your A656 with A HD Tuner)

I should add from the Manual, they have 2 tuning options for Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway. 'Air Channel Mode' and 'Cable Channel Mode', the sets for the rest of Europe can only do 'Air'. You might want to check the Manuals for the Finnish Sony's and Samsung's.

Thanks ziffius once again! I already checked that both Sony and Samsung have terrestrial and cable tuners. I was more interested in MPEG-4 which is the HD tuner which Sony has but not samsung.

The LExxA676A1W and LExxA696M1W, definately have the MPEG-4 HD tuners in. The French get the LExxA676A1M and LExxA696M1M, which has a MPEG-4 tuner in same as yours but just with an air tuner. We in the UK only get the LExxA656A1F and LExxA686A1F which just have SD tuners.

It's the same with the Sony's. You can get a V4000, W4000, W4500 with a MPEG-2 SD tuner or with a HD MPEG-4 tuner. It confuses people here in the UK on here, as people think they're getting a TV which will work with Freeview HD. But they won't as we only get the MPEG-2 SD versions in the UK.

The 37A676(with MPEG-4 ability) comes at a staggering 1269 Euros(cheapest i could find). 37V4500 on the other hand costs only €900. I think i will take the safer route and go for a 37V4500.

The price for A676 is so high due to the MPEG-4 playing capability, otherwise 37A656 is under €1000.
