i just bought call of duty 4 for the ps3 and oh my god,the smearing is just awful on this tv
    !!!!!!!!!!
What the hell is up with this screen,i had mine professionaly calibrated, and unless i bump up my brightness to around 70,i get massive smearing, anyone else notice this with this game???? A quick spin of the camera reveals it....

when you start the game in the swamp like thingy there, there appear to be shadows of the trees in the water, right? well when you move the camera, how come they follow you field of vision and remain in the same position?? Or aren't they shadows of the trees??

what does hdmi rgb range be set at with this tv,full or limited??? mine is set too full...

When i put in my dve and check the contrast and brightness clip i can't see the outer black bar, no matter how much i bump up the brightness, how is this possible? With my toshiba xe1 i can see it,just not with the ps3,is this because it's clipping it,and how can i set this so it doesn't clip the blacks??

Please,i know it's a lot of questions, but please if anyone could take a moment...

Have you tried setting the HDMI RGB level to Limited? as that is what I have seen recommend in PS3 forum.

If you do a search for the big D3000 thread there is some settings posted in there which significantly reduce the smearing. It is towards the end of the thread. if i can find them i will post in here.

Sony's D/X3000/W3000 all have the same problem. I know this as a matter of fact. You can change various settings to greatly reduce the excessive colour smearing but on my W3000 at least it would result in a significantly worse overall picture (too bright/washed out). Sony's Bravia TV's were previously class leading products but something clearly went very wrong with the current range.

    Here we go:
ps3 via hdmi and xbox360 via component

    backlight: 7
    contrast: 80
    brightness: 55
    colour: 50
    colour temp.: neutral
    sharpness: 15
    noise reduction: off
    mpeg noise reduction: off
    black corrector: off
    adv contrast enhancer: high
    gamma: low
    clear white: off
    live colour: off
    colour space: wide
    game mode: on
    film mode: off
    power saving: low

notice: please allow to your tv to warm up first before looking for any smearing
as the smearing is quite bad when the tv is cold
I have the smearing but you need to try very hard to see it(with the above settings). It worked for me. Try them out and let us know about it
