40" LCD recomendation wanted for my mum...

Hope you can help...

I need a recomendation or two for an 40" LCD for my mum to purchase. This is to replace a 28" crt. Budget is around £1,200.

The TV must :
- be good at SD through standard SKY box
- have built-in freeview with good picture
- presume its needs to be 100hz for good SD pictures
- decent sound.
- idiot proof to use (once I have initially set it up)

Also it should preferably (but not at the expense of the above):
- be full HD 1080p
- be 40" or if not then 42" max
- have 5.1 sound output (do tv's have this ?)
- good HD performance (if and when needed)

I've seen lots of TV's recommended for HD viewing, but very little for SD viewing, so thought it best to start a new thread. I do not want my mum ringing me up telling me that eastenders looks fuzzy (as picking the wrong LCD can mean poor SD viewing I beleive).

After a trip to the shops, she liked the look of the Samsungs, but I'm a little worried about them from reading the other threads about their problems. Would a Sony or Toshiba be a better bet ?

Many Thanks.

With your budget you can get a Sony KDL-40W3000 which is one of the best lcd's,although it has not 100Hz
