My controller flashes all four continuously when I press the guide button to turn the console on, they stop flashing once they have connected to the console. Sounds to me like the controller thinks you've pressed the guide button but can't find the console. Shouldn't happen all the time, obviously.

Sorted. Unplugged from mains. The trusty 'if in doubt, power out' never fails.

take out the battery fromthe controller and put it back in, should be turned off by default

if it starts again, sounds like the guide button is stuck down somehow
