3rd Rock from the Sun

Making a welcome return to the schedules is a re-run of this classic show. It's on Channel Four at 7.10am!. Four aliens have been sent to earth to appear in human form in order to study the peculiarities of human race. It's funny, original, slickly acted, especially by John Lithgow. No canned laughter, it's performed in front of a live audience. Sometimes not quite PC; it probably would not be made today. Proof that at least once the Americans were able to produce original comedy.

I bought the complete box set years ago for about £18, still not watched it. However I did watch the show when it originally aired on BBC 2. I think I might have to dig them out and watch them over the summer when most shows are over and there's nothing to watch.

Yeah, always loved this show. It was so kooky. I still say 'I keel you!' in the style of French Stewart when the Shat comes on to his girl in the clip below. What the hell happened to French Stewart anyway?

A gloriously insane series! Anything less and it wouldn't have worked.
Thanks.

Really enjoyed this show, even if the last season went off the boil a bit.

Agreed, Joseph Gordon-Levitt left for a while to pursue a college career. As with many US series different writers were brought in towards the end. The original creators Bonnie and Terry Turner wrote the best scripts. John Cleese, Billy Connolly and Elvis Costello show up as some of the many guests.

Last year, 12/13, John Lithgow played in the Pinaro farce 'The Magistrate' at the National Theatre on the South Bank. It was relayed to cinemas. He was as hilarious as ever and his performance was not a million miles from being Dick Solomon, but with an English accent.

I was surprised to see this on Ch4 the other morning. Like others, I remember watching this on the Beeb, quirky show. John Lithgow has some of the best lines, where as Kristen Johnston has some legs!

Well finally watched the final episodes last night, loved the series, but I think the finale was a bit of a let down. Having said that there is a slightly different alternative final scene in the extras which is actually better than what they went with.
