3rd Gen Touch not syncing or charging

As per title, won't sync with my Mac or charge from any dock.
Bought it from PC World in April but can't find the receipt - if I take it to an Apple store will they be able to do anything??

Cheers for that - have filled in online form and they're send a box to me so I can send it in for repair.
