3Gs going very slow

Over the last 2 days my phone has been very slow to respond to any commands. Everything works, but is infuriatingly slow. Even as I type this, the letters aren't coming up instantly. Is this a common problem or a sign that my phone is on its last legs?

Try clearing everything in the multitask bar
Then reboot the phone

What iOS version you running? Also is your phone nearly full?

At one point my phone was running bit laggy and I noticed I only had a few mb remaining. Had a big clear out after that which helped

I'm using iOS 5.0.1 and have over 9GB of memory left.
I updated the phone last week for the 1st time in ages so was thinking it was something to do with that. This problem only started after the update.

Double press the home button then press and hold each app and close, as you would when deleting apps

Never knew that was there, closed about 50 apps and it seems better.

I'd say for good measure reboot the phone too just clear out the memory.

Hold the Home and Power Switch down then keep holding it until the phone switches off then the Apple logo appears
