I have a 3GS which has a 3.0 thingy on file ECID or whatever it is with cydia and has been jailbroken - My wife has my old 3G and I still have her running 3.0 but was tempted to jailbreak her phone too...
Now I understand I can probably update to 3.1.2 then use blackra1n to carry out the jailbreak but understand I will lose the ability to unlock the phone - however is this all I will lose?
Should I jailbreak using redsnow or similar initially then let cydia backup the important files before I then do a 3.1.2 blackra1n update or would you not recommend any of this?
