Nintendo's latest console, the 3DS XL, has reportedly had a surprising start on its opening day with sales coming in just below the 10,000 mark.
It is believed that the XL version has easily outsold the regular version with ease despite launching on a Saturday.
A un-named source stated, "XL shifted a figure a little shy of five figures, outselling the original 3DS (whose total is based on seven days' data) by a factor of just over 2:1. At the same time, old 3DS was down slightly on its previous week.
"As for software, sales were up 11 percent for the week overall (following a 31 percent leap the previous week, probably inspired by the launch of Kingdom Hearts 3D)," it adds.
Whether or not the console will remain popular at retail is yet to be seen but it seems that there is plenty of demand out there for it...
