3D viewing distance with IR based glasses

Saw this on Panasonic's website regarding their 3D specs:

Transmitter for 3D Eyewear within 3.2 m (10' 5") from front surface / (within 35-degree horizontal, 20-degree vertical)

Now I'll be at least 4m from a50" screen. Does this mean they won't work? Anyone any experience with the 3rd gen glasses in a large room? Seems retarded that they ever thought IR was a good idea over Bluetooth, but hey (at least Samsung see sense there)!

I'm sure hoping so! I guess it may be more of an issue as the battery runs down .. as long as it doesn't easily loose synch in normal viewing ..
