Reading through the third dimension thread for the recommendations then realised its out-dated as hell and why don't we slowly build up a list of the best 3D films based on each other's experience so anyone knew to the format knows where to start.

I'll list the films I have at the moment in 3D and people can add some more and post reviews of the films which they think are the most awesome.

The aim is to have a the best thread on the internet which includes a list of the best 3D films, some 3D reviews, 3D films by genre and makes it easy for people new & old who want to Ebay some of the best 3D has to offer quickly.

If anyone wants to do a list for these specific genres, let me know: Marvel 3D, Disney 3D, Pixar 3D, Kids 3D, Horror 3D, Documentary 3D. Otherwise I'll probably make individual lists every week or so as long as the thread is alive.

I think the standout 3D films for me are Pacific Rim and Titanic (just because it shouldn't work, but it does). If anyone wants to post a review of a 3D film and have me link it, just post it here and tag me.

I'll edit and add films as people go about. Feel free to please post 3D Blu-Ray reviews too as you've watched them and if you want, I can link your review in the post above as I get time.

Hi, Disney’s Tangled 3D Blu-ray is quite the experience, there are some gorgeous 3D effects in it. As another example, although it is based on the awful Ultimate Hunter Edition master, the 3D version of Predator is quite fun. Same with T2.

Added all 3 to the list.

I forgot about Tangled!! I watched it on my TV so need to re-watch it on projector at some point.

Predator? I'll track it down. And Terminator. Will try to watch them ASAP!

I forgot to mention the gold standard disc.. Thunder and the house of magic. Crap film but magical 3D. lol.

Tangled was an absolute crosstalk torture test with the lanterns. Amazingly the N5 is virtually free of any crosstalk even in that sequence. JVC really nailed the 3D quality in the last couple of ranges I think.

I’d also add Disney’s remake of The Jungle Book as that’s very impressive. Oh yes and Tron Legacy! Bit of an odd one in that it’s not all in 3D, but it’s very well done when it is.

Thats amazing to hear as I am eying up JVC next year. Jungle Book.. forgot about that. Great film. I did see some crosstalk near the end of the film in the fight scenes but beautiful film.. I did have the 3D depth slider turned all the way up to 4 tho.. so i was asking for crosstalk lol. I just love pushing it to its limit but I should stop.

Tron Legacy is on my hit list. will add them now too.

A few definite additions from my experience...

Peanuts movie
House of Magic
Star Wars 7: force Awakens

Hi,

Reading through the third dimension thread for the reccomendations then realised why don't we slowly build up a list of the best 3D films based on eachother's experience so anyone knew to the format knows where to start.
I think that was the original idea of that thread and got into chatting about 3D film and hope this does not go the same way as we have 2 threads not knowing which to post in.

Yup mate.. I mean inevitably its going to be a mixture of the two.. lists & discussion.. but my point in doing the thread is so at least the first post on the thread has a bit more an expansive list for people to get started on or do some christmas shopping which is community led. People please feel free to post reviews of recently watched 3D films too and I'll try to link or reference the posts in the opening thread !

House of Magic
I was about to mention that one its about the best I seen

It's always the first one that pops in my head whenever the best 3D is mentioned

It's fantastic loads of great 3D with a lot coming past the frame of the film
Definitely worth getting if you haven't seen it

Legends of the Guardians lovely drawn as well

Legends of the Guardians lovely drawn as well

I have this now but not had time to see it
I do love the movie though & must getvth the Daughter to sit down & watch it

Neil

Legends of the Guardians lovely drawn as well

I'll add this to my list of stuff to buy.

Rise of the Guardians was pretty awesome for 3D but again.. need to rewatch it.

I'd put in IMAX "Legends of Flight" . First saw it back when Netflix were doing 3d and loved it . I then brought the blu ray and i think it is without doubt my most watch disc . Its a film that as well as having the best 3d i've seen (the harriers escorting the warship ) , is also a film that puts me in almost a dream like state .
Another few that leap to mind are the Robert Zemeckis 3d efforts , with "A Christmas Carol " best , but "Beowulf " and "Polar Express" also worthy of a mention , and are films i have rewatched several times .
"The Hole" has great 3d as well as does "Open Season", but both are films that i could only ever watch once .

Wow mate.. I haven't heard of any of those... this list is really going to come in use.

The other 3D thread is really good with some great posts. I fail to see the point in this thread. If it is a list for people to get started with 3D well that already exists with the link in the first post on the other thread.
All that will happen is that 3D chat will end up being spread across two threads instead of being kept in one place. Only need to see the price drop thread and how many times people are told not to post chat but they still do, the same will happen here.

Sure, we can delete this one if you want.

The point was that the initial third dimension thread has an opening post from 2014 that is really really old and outdated and doesn't involve or described probably 70% of the best 3D content available and therefore navigating the thread for a solid list of what is available is very hard for newcomers.

I'd love a resource made by the community where you can click documentary and get a list of the best 3D documentaries recommended by users here. Similarly to Marvel, Disney etc. The first link in that thread is from 2014 and fails to mention a multitude of the best 3D experiences now available. It took me a lot of sifting through and googling to find most of the best 3D content I've experienced.

However, I'm happy to delete this thread if you feel strongly about it as I don't really mind and this thread was probably going to end up making work and organisation for me that wouldn't see me getting much benefit. :)

Or close off the other thread and move 3D chat to this thread. As you say the list in the opening post from the other thread is now quite old and misses out the releases from the past few years.
