3d blu ray help required.

Hi there,
Could really do with some help. I have a Samsung 3d Led 55" tv and run a Denon 1909 av receiver. I have a Samsung BD-F6500 blu ray player connected by hdmi to the Denon. I have just bought my first 3d disc (Gravity) and it won't play. It is saying that the tv is not 3d compatible. I have tried connecting the blu ray player directly into the tv using hdmi and it seems to work fine. As everyone will understand, I would rather have the surround sound from the Denon rather than the tv speakers.
Could it be that the Denon can't receive 3d signals from the blu ray player??

Any help would be gratefully received.

Might be cheaper to go down the route of buying a player with dual-HDMI outs rather than upgrading the amp. That's what I did with the Panny BDT500, but there are cheaper players that offer the same functionality.
