hi there - recently bought the 4306 - have two inputs - cd/dvd and satellite - both via component and optical audio - output to a lcd tv and new set of anthony gallo ref 3.1 speakers.

Have gone through the set up options of the 4306 - and all seems fine - satellite works fine - both video and audio - but on the dvd - video is fine - but no audio! - can't figure out what the issue is?

if anyone can shed some light on what I may have done wrong - it would be appreciated.

    Many thanks

I don't know the 4306 but, having a 2805, I would guess that perhaps you have not assigned your inputs to the relevant Optical connectors.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

In that case, assuming your source equipment and optical cables are okay, I'm struggling to help you any more. Hopefully someone else might have an idea.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

Try assigning it to another Optical Input and see what happens. Any chance you can try another optical cable in case it's damaged?

thx - tested the cable on the working channel - and all OK - just thinking - would there be an issue on the dvd side? - the dvd works when plugged straight into the tv - but not sure if there is a subtle setting that needs to be tweaked?

Is the DVD's digital output enabled and set to BITSTREAM?

hi there - just had a look - and all seems OK - using a Sony DVP-S735D - but I am not sure what the settings should be - have just tried a RCA connection and that too does not work.

Seems the player might have a problem in that case. Sony's tend to have a few setup options with regards to outputs, just need to make sure the digital outs are on and that Dolby Digital and DTS are enabled.

On page 13 of the manual for the Sony DVP-S735D it states that when you connect an audio component with a builtin Dolby Digital decoder you need to set "DIGITAL OUT" in "AUDIO SETUP" to "ON" and then set "DOLBY DIGITAL" to "DOLBY DIGITAL" in the setup display (page 65).

    Have you done this?

It also says set "MPEG" to "MPEG" if the audio component has a builtin MPEG decoder and "DTS" to "DTS" if the audio component has a builtin DTS decoder.

Page 65 goes into greater detail.

    Hope this helps.

Hi - thanks for the feedback - have checked all the settings - and all OK - and I can now get audio via a normal rca connection - so good news - but still can't get audio via the optical cable.

    thanks for the input
