    Hello

When playing a 5.1 disc with surround back on the amp display shows 6.1 surround. I thought it should only do this when there is a proper ex/es soundtrack. Is it a matrixed centre the amp in generating that was not encoded? Is the amp supposed to switch on the surround back when a es/ex flag is detected?

    Thanks for your help

    Sammy

    Hi

The amp will show 6.1 surround (or ES Matrix) regardless of whether there is a flag on the disc or not. If there is a flag, the signal detect light will be lit.

The amp will switch on the surround backs only if the disc is encoded with a flag and if you have Auto Flag Detect set to Yes/ON. To be honest you may as well leave this OFF and just switch on the surround backs manually.

The amp performs matrix decoding when you engage the surround backs, you can do it on any disc apart from DTS Discrete discs, these will give you a fully discrete rear centre channel.
