    Hi there,

Well we've downsized from a 42" PW7 to a 37" PWD7 in the hope that the lip-sync issues we were having with the 42" may not be quiet as pronounced and in a way they are not but they are still there.

The lip-sync only seems noticeable through Sky+ which is connected to the PWD7 via the JS Tech Scart box and the audio feed is from the JS Tech into the PC audio in on the PWD7. The mayor offender which we seem to notice the most has been BBC1 news.

We really don’t want to use an amp as we want to wall mount this screen and it is only used as a TV but is an amp with time delay the only way of curing this problem? If it is any suggestion of a fairly simple amp/receiver that can be hooked up and offer suitable audio time delay to cure this lip-sync issue.

    Many thanks, Tim.

    Hi
Like you I have a 37"PWD7 and suffer from lip sync problems.
The problem is due to original material being out of sync also the video processing in the panel.
I also did not want to use an external amp.
I contacted AV sales (my original suplier) and they sold me a stand alone audio delay unit called Virtualizer Pro.
This unit, once set up, gives preset audio delays to solve the problem.
I believe this unit is about £80 retail.
There is also a thread on this forum for this device
    Hope this helps

This is a good device by all reports:-

    http://www.felston.com/

As for an AV amp, the Yamaha amps global delay works very well. Mine sorted all my lip-sync problems out in a flash.

    Hi there,

MEP; have tried that but can’t remember so will try it again and see if anyone notices.

Eitzel; I know about the Felston but you have to have an amp which we are trying to avoid.

Dylanfreak; will look into that device sounds interesting and means I don't need an amp.

But then the Virtualizer Pro will add even more cabling so we might just as well buy an amp/receiver and feed Sky+, E95 DVDR and VCR through the amp and into the component input on the PWD7 and control the lip-sync that way. That would in theory reduce the birds nest of cables we currently have. Any suggestions on amps or receivers that could do this and control lip-sync?

    Tim.

Good Good....its a problem with Sky digital. I have very odd lip sync issues using sky via my front projector that is impossible to fix, it all depends on what channel you are watching and even what programme you are watching but most of the time everything is in sync or pretty close enough not to be too bothersome. People swear they can see it on through CRT but i have never seen this myself but i am 100% sure your problem is sky digital and this won't be fixed unti HD hits the scene.

    Hi there,

So FlyingBig I am doomed to this lip-sync issue until when?

Hornydragon we think but I’ve yet to check that the picture is ahead of the sound my daughter also says she has seen the lip-sync issue on the music channels.

Would the new PV500 have the same problem? If so can anyone suggest a receiver that I can feed Sky+, E95 DVDR and a Sony Video into and then have one set of component cables going to the PW7. I assume that the new receivers have a facility to time delay the audio input?

Many thanks for all your input, Tim.

IF video is ahead of sound its a broadcast issue (lip sync correction delays the audio)

    Hi there,

So can I confirm that this problem is not curable by the use of an amp/receiver or one of the lip-sync machines?

And will the same problem occur if I was to buy a PV500?

    Many thanks, Tim.

theoretically you could by delaying video signal path.............
but as every channel has a different error it would be a nightmare the digital delay built into an AMP or "lip-sync" box is used to delay the audio as video processing takes time, hence causing lip-sync, delaying something that is behind wont help (not in real time anyway) so is sound behind video?

    Hi there,

Well I've decided to give up on Plasmas for now as I just cannot get on with the lip-sync issue just to annoying it’s all up for sale and I’m moving back to our trusty TX-36PD50’s.

I tried spent a bit of money but just not for us.

Roll on HD lets hope that doesn’t have lip-sync issues.

Many thanks for all your help, Tim.
