    Hi

I am trying to connect my US Xbox with component cable via the adaptors to the DVI port. However all I get is the message "Picture format not available".

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Do you have a facility to output in Progressive Scan on your Xbox. The 9986 will only display Progressive pictures.

Yes. It can output at 480p, 720p and 1080i. I have Firmware 2.1 so not sure why it cannot read signal. Will call Philips on Monday.

I have connected a normal PC via VGA cable and it works OK at 720p and 1080i.
(and also the advertised PC resolutions)

So the table in the manual is a bit misleading. One could think that in VGA (RGBHV) mode only the 640x480 800x600 and 1024x768 PC resolutions are valid, and for the HDTV resolutions one needs to supply component video.
But this is not true, the TV can handle 720p and 1080i in RGBHV mode. I don't know about DVI-D, not tried yet.

So when the X-BOX has a VGA output (don't know if it does) you can try a plain VGA cable.
