I'm just starting to think about a decent High-Def LCD/Plasma to set up a good home cinema and 37" would seem to be the best size for my needs/room.

Am I best looking at LCD's, or Plasma? It will be used for day-to-day TV viewing, but also plenty of DVD's.

I would guestimate that my budget is likely to be around £2000.

Tough call - both technologies have their proponents and detractors.
On LCD - Sharp GA6/GD7 /JVC DS6 /Panasonic LDX 500 models would be top choices for most people. Then there's Samsung with a 40" W51 (IIRC) for £1700 ish.
Partner any of those with a DVD player like Samsung's 850/950 which scale the output to 720p, and your DVDs will take on a new lease of life, to tide you over until HD-DVD/BR comes out.
    £2K should do it easily.

Don't they? I presumed they would have since JVC does and the two companies are closed related.
Oh well then, one less brand to worry about then!
Just checked - you're right. Strange how I missed that. Suppose I wasn't really looking for it.
