I had placed an order for a LC37GA3E but thanks to Sharp's foresight that has now all fallen through. My question is now, what options are there for 37" LCD screens.

What I am looking for is:
    - True 16:9 pixel format (e.g. 1366x768 rather than 1280x768)
    - DVI input allowing me to send a pixel perfect signal from my PC
    - Max price £2,500

Although there may not be anything out there which does that currently is there anything coming on the horizon that will?

    Any ideas much appreciated.

    Hi,

If you can stretch to £2750 the Philips 37" 9986 is absolutely stunning!

Can you output 1366x768 from a PC via DVI with that? Is the price likely to drop at all in the New Year?

Have the same problem, nearly ordered the GA3 37" from Empire Direct for under 2K, no more available it seems, don't want the GA5 (no DVI) would like all the features mentioned in the first post, plus HDMI input, maybe Tosh will bring a 37" to the table? Just got to play the waiting game for now, which will mean more for less eventually I hope.

Of course by next year I'm sure a 32/37" panel will be released with a 1920 x 1080 res for 1080i/p HDTV.

Another member - Alan D - pointed out to me that the Philips will only give 1024 x 768 from a PC through DVI. However, a few pixels each side is no real problem for me on an otherwise 'stunning' display.

I expect the price will fall, although how fast who can tell?

I too could have waited, but there will always be something else to hang on for and I wanted something now!

    Regards

Seems to me that there is little choice out there unfortunately. Panasonic panels so far have also just been 1280x768 and I'm not sure if they are likely to change away from that.

You should be able to get a LC37GA4E (side mounted speakers) - I think they are continuing to make it, with only the GA3Es being replaced with GA5Es. It is also possible that the LC37GA5E has DVI, but the LC32GA5E doesn't.

Everything that I've heard says that the GA4E has been discontinued too - what makes you think that it hasn't been?

What about the Loewe Xelos? That's about 3k I believe. I saw the 37 Spheros in action today and it looked pretty impressive. May require a few months extra saving though.
