Using r2 PAL discs and setting my Tosh SD530 player to output prog scan via components and switching output on the player to NTSC the TV actually shows a great picture. But if the player is in auto or PAL output mode only get blue screen with audio.

Is this PAL Prog or is it something else?

After doing numerous tests the above gives perfect picture quality, eg no scan lines or jaggies.

    Any ideas?

My 36ZD26p only supports Prog Scan via an NTSC signal and (I think) only using the component inputs.

You'll not get this TV to accept PAL Prog Scan in any shape of form.

I'm surprised you don't get a bit of judder with an R2 disc being converted to NTSC. I get a bit of judder on my Yamaha S540 when doing R2 discs via NTSC...... maybe it's just the player, but the picture is crystal clear and has superb colour depth.
