Well, it's obviously not news to anyone that's read this forum in the last 3 months... Typical lazy journalism trying to make out that there could be problems with getting launch titles out, and trying to make out there may not be a killer app while including the obligatory reference to the PS2 having GTA. *sigh*

I just never thought about quite how big an operation it would be to get it shipped everywhere. I had just thought about the production side of things.

Time to start getting more preorders in. They are only talking about a million units being available for launch window now. How fars 1 million consoles going to go in US, Europe and Japan ?

The guy in HMV Manchester (the 2nd largest HMV in the country) reckons that they're getting about 50 360s. It means I'll be OK (I think I'm about 20th in the queue), but they've taken pre-orders that won't be able to be delivered on Dec 2nd...

Just pre order one and if you get one great! If not then it's not the end of the world! Everytime someone pre-orders an extra one it means that someone else is missing out. The thing is that sadly most people are too selfish to give a damn about anyone else these days so I can't see the mass pre-ordering stopping. I've just got one ordered with Amazon and if I don't get it then big deal i'll wait until there are more available. When you look at how some people on this world will be spending Christmas it kind of puts getting a new toy into perspective.

The prob is that most people here are fanatics bordering on obsessive..
I dont mean that harshly so dont go mad.
But it means a huge lot to them.
Personally.. i would be happy to wait another month if I can get the 10% off with ASDA for example as £400 once I get 2 games and a controller or 2 is just OTT for how much I will use it.

Thats not correct at all. Only if they go ahead and buy all their pre orders. I want to make sure I get one. If you dont collect and pay for your pre order on day of release it will just be sold to the next person on the list.

Having more than one preorder dosnt mean anyone has to miss out Sure some people will preorder them from everywhere and then sell the extras on ebay for a massive profit. Thats not what I am about, I only want the one.

i believe with most retailers you get a week to claim your pre-order

Ok so someone else gets it in a week.....I very much doubt the majority will give a week though. TRU certainly dont 48hrs I believe well last time I got a launch console from them. I guess if they are taking a deposit they have to give you a bit longer. I have pre ordered one from Amazon and TRU online and neither took a deposit.

How can you stop them all being purchased & sent at the same time? The fact is that only if your pre orders are all from shops that what you state above will be the case. If you've say ordered online from Game online, Amazon, Play, Gameplay, HMV online etc. (and lets face it most people do these days) then you have to physically cancel the order before it becomes void. You could end up with anything between 1 and all of them shipping you a console on the same day.

There's no point in making any more pre-orders now as all initial allocations will be gone (if the predicted shortages materialise). My best chance of getting one is just to keep my Amazon order and not bother with any others.

We all would like one for launch day and most likely those of us that ordered early will get one. But if we don't get one then it's disapointing, but not the end of the world.

When it comes to games I must admit that i'm one of the people you describe above but you have to keep things in perspective. I'd love a 360 at launch but if I have to wait, then i'll wait.

Put it this way.. i got my Xbox last Xmas... for £109 new from Argos...
they had a system glitch..
so i got
Crystal Xbox
FIVE controllers...
Halo 2
Hitman Contracts
£10 voucher for ARGOS

But do I feel that I missed out by not having the Xbox years before?? Not at all
The games will get better.. the console will get cheaper.. so no rush.
How many launch Xbox titles do people still play now??

I've got mine preordered at Dixons and I'm only number 6 so I should be fine. If that falls through then its just a quick walk to WH Smiths, Argos or Tescos and I'm sorted. Bottom line is, if you want a console at launch, aslong as you make the effort to get out of bed on December 2nd then you'll get one. There are a whole load of places that simply don't take preorders.

I have pre ordered one from TRU they only sent out the email this afternoon, should have a good chance of getting one. If I end up getting 2 my mate wants one anyway and he hasnt bothered pre ordering.

A few days after they put it on the site. Certainly not on the day they listed it. Put it this way when I preordered it was already number 1 in their sales chart - that cant be good

yer amazon will be one of the top pre-order place's but they usually get a good load of stock being amazon. certainly did with the latest harry potter book after record pre-orders

Just pre-ordered my third - this time from PC World. I'm third on their list so I am sorted now. I was 17th at a small HMV and I wasn't happy the staff at comet got it right on their ordering system. I'm not greedy though, I'll collect from the first to call me and use my deposits at the other 2 stores for games.
