I'm interested in the 360 Elite and 1080P signal, but have a TV which does 1080i only. will I see any difference than my normal 1080i 360 ? I have no plans to purchase a 1080P TV for the moment. So my question is for the 1080i only if it will improve with the 360 Elite . Thanks.

    no.

it is unlikely that your tv will handle hdmi better than component or vga IF AT ALL.

save the money and spend it on more games.

EDIT: Your current 360 will be able to output 1080p over VGA anyway, but seeing as your tv is a 720p/1080i set anyway, it is best to keep the signal native to 1080i/720p rather than trying to downscale it from 1080p.

Thanks for advice. Point taken. But I read, also that 360 output to 1080P in VGA was an error statement, and won't do 1080P. anyway, that is not my concern, as my TV can only handle 1080i. Thanks again for advice.

why not just stop reading, look at your dashboard settings, and look at the choices..since an update or two ago, there has been 1920x1080 for vga,and 1080p for component..1920x1080 is 1080p..
the current xbox can do 1080p,over vga and component..its the tvs that are the problem.!

    I have a native 1080p set and my 360 outputs 1920 x 1080 progressively (i.e. 1080p) just fine over VGA and Component.

I'm sorry, never checked my 360 since install over a year and a half ago. Probably got the update through xbox live. anyway, I found the 1080P and tried it, but console will revert to 1080i after few seconds of black screen. Is it because my TV does not handle 1080P, or I do need VGA cable ? Current is component. just curious, as I'm aware no 1080P for my TV, so won't get it anyway.

Thats exactly why it doesnt work, your TV isnt 1080p so choosing that option will never work, doesnt matter what cable you use.

The only way to get 1080p is to buy a TV that is 1080p and even then it will have to accept it through VGA or Component, alot only accept it through HDMI.
