Ring MS and see what they say, at the end of the day no matter who bought it new it's still under warranty.

Give it a go mate the worst they can say is no. You could also ask the person you purchased from to phone them up thats if you know them of course.

As the 360 hasnt been out over 12month it will still be in warranty so give M$ a call even if you dont want to keep your 360 you can always go ebay it or summat when its repaired ;)

Yeah that's what you need to say basically. Xbox has not even been out for 6 months so there can be no arguement it is still under warranty.

Just say you lost the receipt.

I bought a laptop once which broke a few months after buying it, not to mention I bought it while living in France and it was a French spec machine.

I sent it back to be repaired shortly after returning to England, and despite being a French machine the UK service centre repaired it free of charge without even asking for a copy of my receipt.

So moral of the story is, don't give up before you've tried!

the moral of the story is that if microsoft want to release a hurried console to market with no qc then i wont be there to buy it going to return it to the sore i got it for a ds and a few games

If you can get in the dash board, then try to get the update from microsoft by your PC. Then burn it to a CD-RW then reinstall the update.

thanks for your help but my mind is made up if this can happen to everyone now why not in the future when 12 month returns are not an option.

will get another one next year when the games i want appear and microsoft know how to program patches for it

I had exactly the same fault with my first xbox360 (checkboard pattern + freezing) after downloading the Fight Night 3 Demo when it was first available.

I figured it was just coincidence but now hrmmm

i think my 360 is dying too.

three red lights, lots of freezes. normally just after i turn it on. blazing angels demo, i couldnt get off the ground without it freezing.

i have been unplugging and plugging in all the cables repeatedly.

    soon time to call microsoft.

    shame

hi , register it first with microsoft, by filling the registration form on the xbox 360 website

    http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/?lc=2057,

they might not even ask for a receipt, tell them it was bought as a core, and you purchased everything else seperate..., and as said earlier tell them you've lost the receipt or it was bought for you as a present , when it's registered they use that alsmost like a receipt so you should not get too much grief and lets face it out of the first xmas batch they have had a fair few returned, they tend to send DHL out with a box to pack it in, then DHL come back collect it and take it back to them and within a few days they are back again with a new one. Which you should not have problems with if from the next batch load. Give it another go before you decide. to give up,you paid for it you are entilited to one that works, if you still aren't keen sell the new working one on here or ebay.

    hope this helps you out.:smashin:

dont think the download killed it , just coincidence, as we have dowloaded all, and it is different instances with every machine that has died.:(
